Former president Hamid Karzai has criticized US President Donald Trump’s new war strategy for Afghanistan and South Asia, saying the US should focus on the peace process rather than the war.
He said that the US will not succeed in turning Afghanistan into a second Syria or Iraq.
Karzai said that terror hideouts and safe havens exist outside the Afghan borders, but the US is continuing its war in Afghan villages.
Speaking to the Royal Institution of Great Britain in London, Karzai also raised a number of questions for the US officials to answer.
“Who is paying other groups, who is supplying them weapons, who owns those unmarked white color helicopters going from base to base in Afghanistan supplying weapons, training… the entire country is under the radar surveillance of America,” said Karzai.
