AT-KABUL: Former President Hamid Karzai on Sunday met with the French and Turkish ambassadors to Kabul where he condoled with them over recent incidents.
During meeting with French Ambassador François Richier, Karzai expressed deep sympathies and condolences to the French people and government over the recent terrorist attack in the city of Nice, his office said in a statement.
“Killing of children, women and innocent people is a clear act of terrors. It is far from humanity,” Karzai was quoted by the statement as saying.
He added that the people of Afghanistan could feel the pains and grief of French people more than anyone else, because, “Afghans are the victims of terrorism for a long time.”
Karzai separately met with Ali Sait Akin, Turkish ambassador to Kabul, pointing Afghanistan and Turkey’s historical friendship.
“Both nations are cohered in each other’s happiness and sorrows,” Karzai said, referring to the coup plot in Turkey.
The former president lauded Turkey for assistance with the government of Afghanistan over past 13 years.
They also talked about Karzai’s visit to Turkey and in the inaugural ceremony of Turkey former president Abdullah Gul’s university, library and museum.
