KABUL: The former President Hamid Karzai held talks with a number of religious clerics.
The participants in the meeting discussed the current situation in the country, Karzai’s office said in a statement, adding that the participants expressed concerns over the recent reports of clashes in some parts of the country and stressed Afghanistan is a share home for all Afghans.
The participants called on the current government to try for strengthening unity in the country and chose reconciliation and negotiations as the only path for an enduring peace and stability in the country, the statement said.
“The participants also called for immediate reopening of school for girls above grade six and allowing of women to work under an Islamic Emirate structure,” the statement reads.
