AT-KABUL: Ex-President Hamid Karzai met with the Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, in New Delhi on Saturday. The two leaders discussed different issues of mutual interest.
Hamid Karzai appreciated India’s support for Afghanistan in different areas, particularly in education sector. He termed relations between Kabul and New Delhi as time-tested and urged India to support security institutions of Afghanistan in order to enable them to defend their country independently.
Karzai urged that Modi to attend inauguration of the new parliament building that is being built by India. Modi said that India and Afghanistan’s relations are beyond government-to-government as people-to-people contacts are there and they need further expansion.
