AT-KABUL: Ex-President Hamid Karzai welcomed direct peace talks between the Afghan government and the Taliban in Islamabad. Hamid Karzai termed the negotiations as a step towards bringing lasting peace and stability in Afghanistan.
A press statement issued by Hamid Karzai’s office said that informal talks in China, Qatar, Norway, and United Arab Emirates (UAE) were steps towards bringing peace to Afghanistan.
Karzai once again stressed that such peace talks should mark end of bomb blasts, killings and violence in Afghanistan.
One-day peace parleys between Afghan officials and Taliban representatives ended with both sides agreeing to meet again after the sacred month of Ramadan.
