KABUL – Former Afghan President Hamid Karzai has expressed his endorsement of UN Security Council Resolution #2721, signaling international support for Afghanistan’s sovereignty, independence, territorial integrity, and national unity.
Welcoming the resolution, Karzai said it aligns with the global community’s commitment to fostering a peaceful, stable, and progressive Afghanistan.
Karzai, acknowledged in the resolution and the UN Secretary-General’s independent evaluation report, underscored the importance of national consensus and representing the will of the people as the path to establishing enduring peace and stability. He emphasized the critical roles of educating both girls and boys and ensuring women’s participation in all aspects of society as guarantees for the country’s progress and excellence.
While appreciating the international community’s attention to Afghanistan, the former president emphasized that the ultimate responsibility for overcoming challenges and achieving lasting peace lies with the Afghan people. He called on all Afghan, particularly the Taliban government, to collaborate for the nation’s peace, prosperity, and rightful place in the international system.
