AT Monitoring Desk-Kabul: Hamid Karzai had better governance than the leaders of the National Unity Government (NUG) despite facing challenges, a former minister and prominent politician has alleged.
“Karzai’s administration faced problems likes corruption and inefficiency. But in general, the situation was better than it is today,” said Anwarul Haq Ahadi, who served as finance and then commerce minister under Karzai.
Ahadi who was supporting President Ashraf Ghani in the 2014 presidential elections, seems to be disappointed by new administration. He recently formed a political party, challenging the government as political opposition.
“We had a growing economy and the graph of unemployment was lower. The governance was also in a good condition,” Ahadi said told Pajhwok news agency.
He calls the government unsuccessful, saying that security, economy and governance are in the worst condition ever.
“Changing the government is the only solution, not repairing it,” he believes.
Ahadi accused President Ghani of being disloyal to those who helped him during the election, saying that “Ghani excluded them (including himself) by the pretext that he wanted to give chance to the new face”.
“But he was not honest in this either as he brought a number of the former ministers to his cabinet.”
Head of the National Front for New Afghanistan claimed in his interview that the situation was worsening.
“Each government receives both positive and negative heritages from its predecessor that has to fix it,” he said. “We expected the new administration not to let the situation get worsened, but we see today that it has worsened.”
He called the “weak administration” responsible for the problems.
