AT-KABUL: A key commander of the militant was killed along with four others in a drone strike in the restive northern Kunduz province, local officials said on Wednesday, identifying the commander as Gul Khan also known as Khanjar.
Officials said that they were targeted in the vicinity of Imam Sahib district, where the anti-government groups are actively operating there. “Fortunately, civilians were not harmed during drone attack,” local officials added.
However, there is no comment posed by the insurgents into the matter yet.
This comes as recently a key figure of the Taliban was killed along with seven comrades in an airstrike in the same province.
Key Taliban figure Qari Ali with his seven fighters was killed in an airstrike in Taraki area of Dasht-e-Archi district of Kunduz province.
According to the Ministry of Defense, the group was involved in different terrorist and subversive activities in district, so after they killed security situation will be improved in the district.
