KABUL – In a powerful Friday prayer address, Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, called on Afghanistan and other Islamic nations to form a united “defense belt” against Israel. Speaking in Tehran, Khamenei emphasized the need for vigilance and solidarity among Muslim countries, warning that if they fail to assist each other in resisting external threats, they risk falling into a cycle of oppression.
“If any nation wants to avoid the paralyzing siege of the enemy, it must be awake from the start,” Khamenei declared. “When it sees the enemy moving toward another nation, it should ally with that oppressed nation, help them, and cooperate to prevent the enemy from succeeding there. If the enemy succeeds, it will come for others.”
The Supreme Leader criticized past neglect by Muslim nations and called for a collective defense strategy spanning from Afghanistan to Yemen, Iran, Gaza, and Lebanon. “We must no longer be complacent. The belt of defense, independence, and honor must unite Islamic countries and nations.”
Khamenei further stated that “every strike launched by any group against Israel is a service to the region and to all humanity,” highlighting the wider significance of resistance in the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
This call for regional unity comes at a time of heightened tensions in the Middle East, with Khamenei’s speech echoing Iran’s longstanding opposition to Israel’s presence in the region.
