AT-KABUL: Police chief for the Khoshamand district of Paktika province was killed along with six other officers in a Taliban attack in the province, officials said Tuesday.
“Lt. Kandahari also known as Kako Lala, police chief of the Khoshamand district in Paktika province came under attack late on Monday while on his way to the district from Sharan city, provincial capital,” said deputy provincial police chief Col. Abdul Rauf.
“The Taliban attacked Kako Lala in Hasham village of Sharan district the provincial capital late on Monday,” Rauf said.
He added that Kako Lala was killed after a short fire exchange along with six police personnel.
He mentioned four police officials had been wounded in the attack.
Official at Sharan Hospital said four wounded policemen had been evacuated to the hospital that had been in better condition.
Taliban have not yet comment on the shootout.
