AT-KABUL: Khost Governor Hukam Khan Habibi on Tuesday lauded the Afghan security forces for their indefatigable efforts to down insurgent activities in the province.
Briefing provincial newsmen, he talked about recent offensive conducted against insurgents in the province. “Weapons were seized and some Taliban insurgents were arrested in the operation,” he said.
He added that Afghan National Army, police and National Directorate of Security personnel conducted operations in different parts of the province. “84 boxes of Kalashnikovs, machine guns, heavy machinegun bullets, 51 missile warhead and 20 artillery shells were seized from terrorist during counterinsurgent operations,” he said.
Hinting to the capability of the security forces, the governor said that security forces were sparing no efforts to tame insurgent activities. “They are making significant headway.”
Provincial Council Chairman Abdul Wali Wahidzai also praised the efforts of security forces to enforce peace in the province, bordering Pakistan’s restive tribal region of Kurram.
“The security personnel had prevented militants from implementing their nefarious designs,” Pajhwok Afghan News, quoted Wahidzai, as saying.
