KABUL: The nine deminers who were abducted by unidentified gunmen have been released in central Logar province, an official said on Monday.
A day earlier, the Taliban militants abducted nine de-miners of Halo Trust organization along with their vehicle in Daud Khail area in Pul-i-Alam district.
Din Mohammad Darwaish, governor spokesperson, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the de-miners were released with the support of local elders without any deal with Taliban militants.
He did not comment on the whereabouts of the demining workers.
This is the fourth time the Halo Trust workers came under attack in Pul-i-Alam city and Mohammad Agha districts in last two years.
At least 12 employees of the organization were killed in the recent attack that took place in Mis Ainak copper mine area of the province.
Taliban have not commented about the incident so far. (PAN)
