AT-KABUL: Afghan spy agency has busted a five-member kidnapping gang in Herat province.
According to a media statement issued here on Wednesday, the National Directorate of Security (NDS) has arrested members of the gang who were also involved in armed robberies in Herat.
The gang was headed by Zubair. He was arrested along with his four accomplices when attempted to abduct a doctor in Herat City, said the statement.
One AK-47, four pistols, five wireless sets, one GPS, military uniform and a car were recovered from the kidnappers, the NDS said.
In another crackdown, the spy agency arrested a Taliban fighter who was wounded in a gunfight in Qadis district of Herat.
The Taliban fighter was on his way to Pakistan for treatment when nabbed.
