AT-KABUL: Former President Hamid Karzai called the late king Mohammad Zaher Shah well-wishing, peace-loving and democrat person who supported the national unity.
“Afghanistan took slow but fruitful social, economic and cultural steps during his long-time reign,” Karzai said in a message over Shah’s ninth death anniversary, calling the 1965 constitution as the beginning of democracy during his monarchy.
Karzai said the maintenance of the national unity was another great achievement of the late king, adding that his achievements would remain in history.
