KABUL: A 35-year-old man has been lashed 80 times for drinking wine in eastern Kunar province, court officials said on Tuesday.
A resident of Asadabad, Bacha was arrested with two bottles of wine in Noorgal district 20 days back. He was placed on an open trial yesterday.
Prosecutor Lutfullah prayed the court to punish the accused under Article 44 of the Drug-Control Law. The accused also confessed to drinking liquor.
Judge Mohibullah, the provincial court chief, ruled the accused be awarded 80 lashes in accordance with the relevant law. (PAN)
