KABUL: President Ghani’s Spokesman, Sediq Seddiqi on Saturday said that Taliban attack on Kunduz city showed that the group is not committed to peace in Afghanistan.
Mr. Seddiqi continued that “the attack on Kunduz revealed that the Taliban don’t accept the opportunity of peace which provided by the USA and the government of Afghanistan.”
The attack is completely against what they say in Doha and the peace process, he added.
He said that Taliban militant attacks on civilian residential areas inside the city as well as in the outskirts of Kunduz are the clear signs of Taliban’s enmity to the Afghan people.
“Taliban are from one side continuing talks with USA, but from another side, they attack civilian residential areas and cities,” he noted.
Seddiqi stated that such attacks will be responded and they will face the fate of few years back.
Taliban attack on Kunduz is in contrary with the ongoing peace talks and it show that they don’t respect people demands, which is peace and rather than the group continue war, he mentioned.
Afghan forces are engaged in defending operation in Kunduz and they are struggling to protect civilians and clear areas from terrorists, he asserted.
It is pertained to mention that the 9th round of peace talks between US envoy for Afghanistan reconciliation process and the Taliban negotiation team going on in Doha since over one week and both sides reported progresses in the aspect.
