By Farhad Naibkhel-KABUL: The Wolesi Jirga (Lower House) of Parliament on Sunday disqualified ministers of education and transport for failing in spending budgetary allocations during the outgoing Afghan fiscal year, while the finance minister who was also expected to be disqualified, remained in his post.
Wolesi Jirga members sacked Ministers of Education Assadullah Hanif Balkhi and Transportation and Civil Aviation, Mohammadullah Batash in their absence with the majority of vote.
“Ministers of Education, Transport and Civil Aviation dismissed with majority of votes by Wolesi Jirga,” said Speaker of the Wolsi Jirga Abdul Raouf Ibrahimi.
He said that these minsters have been failed to spend the allocated development budget, thus they were rejected by the parliament members.
“We want the president to introduce new qualified nominees for the mentioned ministries as soon as possible,” he added.
The Wolesi Jirga (Lower House) of Parliament members, with a majority vote, last week made decision to summon 19 ministers and numbers of departmental heads to brief legislators regarding their failure in spending budgetary allocations during the outgoing Afghan fiscal year.
Law makers decided to disqualify those ministers, who their answers were not logical and convincing.
Lawmaker has sacked five ministers including Minister of Ministers of Foreign Affairs Salahuddin Rabbani, Labor and Social Affairs Nasrin Oryakhil, Public Work Mahmoud Baligh, Education Assadullah Hanif Balkhi and Transport and Civil Aviation Mohammadullah Batash in the past two days.
