AT-KABUL: A man in the northern province of Balkh shot the members of his family, killing four and injuring two others, security officials said Monday.
Provincial deputy police chief, Abdul Raziq Qaderi said the incident took place Sunday night, in which four women were killed and a man and a woman were wounded.
“The injured have been shifted to the nearby hospital for treatment and the shooter has fled the scene,” he said.
An investigation was ongoing, Qaderi added.
It was not clear what had prompted the attacker to kill his family members, he asserted.
Numerous incidents involving murder of women and violence have been reported during the recent months across the country.
A young woman was set on fire by her husband in western Herat province last month.
According to the local officials, the 23-year-old woman was doused with petrol and was set on fire in the Enjil district.
The incident had likely taken place due to an argument between the couple and the husband of the woman managed to flee the area after the incident.
