Kabul: Afghanistan media faces many challenges from life threats to lack of access to information.
In a statement on the occasion of National Day of Journalists, NAI, or the organization supporting the free media of Afghanistan, said that journalists faces increased violence and restrict working environments.
In this announcement, it is stated that this year the National Journalist’s Day is being celebrated while journalists in Afghanistan are dealing with many challenges.
Ney said that many media outlets have been blocked due to existing challenges and economic problems, and hundreds of journalists have been unemployed or left the country.
Meanwhile Afghanistan Journalists’ Center (AFJC) says that in addition to increased violence and threats against Afghan journalists, the working environment for journalists and media has also been “seriously” restricted.
The Center of Afghan Journalists said that in the last 12 months, it has recorded at least 237 incidents of violations of freedom of media and journalists, which include threats, arrests and violent treatment.
Out of the total number of events recorded by the Afghan Journalists Center in 1401, at least 113 of them were threats or misbehavior and insults to journalists.
Recently an explosion occurred at the journalists’ gathering in Mazar-e-Sharif city, which resulted in the death of at least two people, including Hossein Naderi, a reporter of the Afghan Voice news agency, and injured at least 19 journalists.
