KABUL: Two men accused of killing their wives have been arrested in western Herat and northern Kunduz provinces, officials said on Monday.
Abdul Rauf Ahmadi, Herat police spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News that Samia, the slain woman, was beheaded by her husband because of family feud. The man was addicted to drugs and had physically abused his wife several times, he recalled.
Officials in the Herat hospital said on Sunday evening confirmed receiving the body of the woman.
Meanwhile, in a similar incident, another man has been detained in northern Kunduz province after shot his wife dead.
Police spokesman Sarwar Hussaini said the man was a resident of Aliabad district and now absconded after he killed his 30-year-old wife. The reason behind the killing yet to be ascertained, he added.
Director women affairs Nahid Saifi said seven women had been killed in the province so far. (PAN)
