AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: An official in the Ministry of Interior (MoI) rejected concerns about increasing militants’ infiltration in the ranks of security forces.
Najibullah Danesh, a spokesman for the MoI said the recent insider attack in Kandahar does not mean that militants can infiltrate ranks of security forces.
Two policemen the other day opened fire on their colleagues in Maiwand district of Kandhar killing seven.
The insider attack raised concerns about militants’ infiltration in the ranks of security forces. However, Danesh rejected the concerns and said that insider attacks have considerable decreased. “Kandahar incident marks the first incident of insider attack among police forces in the past 11 month,” he added. He said that investigation was underway to ascertain the motive behind the insider attack.
It is worth mentioning that recently a militant disguised in Afghan army uniform killed three American contractors at Hamid Karzai International Airport.
Experts believe that such insider attacks displayed security lapses.
