AT-KABUL: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) on Sunday celebrated 60th anniversary of the establishment of the Institute of Diplomacy.
Sixty years back (in 1334 solar year) when Sardar Mohmmad Naim Khan was the foreign minister, the Institute of Diplomacy was inaugurated in foreign ministry and has so far graduated 22 rounds of diplomats.
Foreign Minister Salahuddin Rabbani said the Institute of Diplomacy has played significant role in upholding of capacity building of diplomats.
He stated that Afghanistan remained in the crucial political situation and needs more professional, competent diplomats to practice foreign policy.
“Our diplomats need to know the principles of the foreign policy to pursue the national interests in relationships with the foreign countries. Our foreign scheme is based on scientific and strategy vision,” he added.
Rabbani vowed that he would not spare efforts in persuading the national interests and goals in the international relationships and would implement the four-year foreign policy.
“We are committed to provide professional capacity building trainings for diplomats during their service.”
Former foreign minister Rangin Dadfar Spanta said that from the beginning up to now the ministry had served by the elitist Afghan diplomats and they remained significant achievements form themselves in the political arena.
“Despite lack of modern technology, our progenitors had kept important historical documents in the ministry about our bordering water with neighboring countries,” he asserted.
Spanta added that their written documents show that they [progenitors] were very active in expansion of diplomatic relations with neighboring countries.
