By Farhad Naibkhel-KABUL: China military aid including explosive scanners for Kabul gates was formally handed over to the Ministry of Interior on Sunday, officials said.
The military aid comprised of 400 security instruments and scanners using for discovery and neutralization of explosive devices.
Interior Minister and China Ambassador to Kabul were present when military aid were handed over to the ministry.
“Four security scanners would be installed in Kabul gates in order to beef up security in Kabul,” interior minister, Taj Mohammad Jahid said, adding that the scanners would be used for discovery and defusing of explosive devices.
“These scanners would definitely help security forces in improving security in Kabul city.”
He said that China is a time-tested friend of Afghanistan and helped government and the Afghan masses in different areas, particularly in military fields.
He termed China’s support in providing military equipment and training programs for the Afghan forces as a taintless assistance for Afghanistan.
“Afghanistan is the neighbor of China, thus the people of China would concentrate more for the stability of the country,” Chinese Ambassador to Kabul Yao Jing said.
Praising Afghan security forces braveness and devotion to fight terrorism, the ambassador said that Afghan security forces capability would reinforce to maintain security in Kabul city once these scanners installed in gates.
“Terrorist would be failed to transfer explosive devices to Kabul through Kabul gates after installing of scanners,” he added.
Chain’s first military shipment aid reached to Afghanistan around two week ago and was formally delivered to the government in the Kabul military airport.
The package included transport equipment for the Afghan security forces and ammunition for light weapons.
Following mutual agreement this is the first Chines military package donates for Afghan army forces.
