AT-KABUL: Ministry of Public Works has signed two construction agreements with private companies to build a bridge in Baghlan province and a ring road 15 kilometer long in Jawzjan.
“The ministry has signed contract of 15 kilometer long ring road which will be constructed in Sheberghan city of Jawzjan province. According to the second contract a bridge will be constructed in Fring district of Baghlan province,” said Minister of Public Works Mahmood Baleegh.
Speaking at a press conference here he said that the ring road will be constructed at a total cost of Afs1.165 billion. International and national standards would be followed to ensure high quality of the project. The construction projects will be funded by the government. The construction of the road will take four months.
He said that construction of this road would solve the congestion and traffic jam problems in the city of Sheberghan. “Transport trucks will use this road. The bridge will be constructed over Fring road in Baghlan province within five months at a total cost of Afs16 million. By construction of this bridge 5,000 people will be provided transportation facilities,” he elaborated.
He asked the construction firms to implement the projects according to the agreements on time.
Voicing his pleasure over announcement of the projects in Baghlan and Jawzjan provinces, member of the Wolesi Jirga, Obaidullah Ramin, urged the construction firms to complete construction of the ring road and the bridge according to the deadline mentioned in the agreements.
He also asked the companies to hire local people to complete the projects without any let or hindrance.
The deputy chief of Chicago Construction Company, Saifur Rahman, pledged to complete the ring road project on time.
