KABUL: Members of parliament condemned civilian casualties by Taliban’s latest attacks in the provinces of Nangarhar and Zabul, saying that more civilian casualties would not be tolerated by the people.
In their Saturday session, the lawmakers called on security forces, foreign troops and Taliban fighters to be more cautious about civilian lives in the war.
Meanwhile, the parliamentarians backed a statement recently issued by the United States department of state, accusing Afghan procurement office of being corrupt. The lawmakers confirmed corruption in the entity, calling for an investigation.
They called the current security situation as a crisis, blaming security forces for weakness in containing terrorist attacks.
In the meantime, members of parliament expressed concerns over transparency in the next week presidential elections, saying not only the transparency was not guaranteed, but also claimed that ballot boxes had been already filled in favor of a certain candidate.
At least 40 people mostly civilians were killed in a truck-bomb attack in the Qalat city, the provincial capital of Zabul in the south.
