AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: A member of Sar-e-Pul provincial council expressed his deep concerns over mounting insecurity in the province.
He alleged that all the operations conducted by Afghan security forces in the province didn’t yield any tangible result.
Assadullah Khoram told Azadi Radio that Afghan security forces didn’t have any considerable achievements in their military offensives against militants. “Unfortunately, militants capture more areas during the operations,” he added.
He said a large swath of Sanchark district of the province are under heavy threat from militants and a large part of Sozma Qala district is on the verge of collapse. “It has been almost a year that the Taliban militants have surrounded Kohestanat district of the province,” he added.
In the meantime, security officials in the province said that they have launched a military offensive to retake the captured areas of Sozma Qala district from the Taliban.
Muhammad Asef Jabarkhel, police chief of the province, said that they have asked the central government to provide them with air support. “I have asked the Ministry of Interior (MoI) to provide us air support in order to launch large-scale military operations in militancy infested areas,” he added.
