By Akhtar M. Nikzad-KABUL: Wolesi Jirga or Lower House of Parliament on Saturday summoned security officials over the increasing insecurities and abduction of passengers in the highways.
Lawmakers expressed concern about enhancement of threats in various parts of the country and termed abduction of civilian passengers in the highways lack of cooperation among security organs in fighting against militants as the great challenges.
The Wolesi Jirga summoned Taj Mohammad Jahid , Minister of Interior, Abdullah Habibi, Minister of Defense, Mohammad Massoud Andarabi, Deputy Director of the National Directorate of Security to answer questions over the growing threats of Taliban targeting the nation’s strategic provinces and towns.
Security officials said that the Taliban had been trying to shift their war to some strategic provinces.
Andarabi said that after the death of Mullah Akhtar Mansoor, Sirajuddin Haqqani’s network had considerable role in fighting against Afghan security forces.
“Due to financial challenges and leadership inside Taliban group, Haqqani committed responsibility of terrorist attacks and insurgency in Afghanistan,” he said.
He added that so far the Taliban planned to attack various parts of the country to conquer some strategic areas for deploying their subversive activities.
He assured of thwarting of the armed enemies and stressed that they would sustained heavy casualties like previous raids.
Hinting to existence of Daesh fighters, Andarabi stated that despite Daesh insurgents were scattered as the result of hostilities, but still it counts a security challenge.
Interior Minister Jahid said that National Police had launched raids in 12 provinces of the country to suppress the insurgents.
He said Daesh insurgents stormed Friday the checkpoints in Kot district of Nangarhar province which fighting was still going on.
“In battle against insurgents the Afghan security forces have close operation and it caused to heavy casualties of militants,” he reckoned.
Defense minister Habibi stated that operations against Taliban were going on in Helmand, Kandahar, Ghor and Sur-e-Pul provinces.
He termed shortage of police personals for keeping security of the captured areas a great challenge, added that the issue crippled the operation.
He stressed that in the past two months the National Army concentrated over special operations and it has considerable consequences.
Hinting to Torkham tension, Habibi warned if the diplomatic efforts failed and Pakistan preferred military option, then Afghan National Security Forces are ready to defend from their territory at any cost.
“If Pakistan does not refuse from establishment of military institutions in zero point of border and prefer military option than diplomatic efforts, we are ready to give victims for defending our territory,” he warned.
