AT-KABUL: Army General Murad Ali Murad resigned from his post as the commander of Kabul garrison, saying “problems, disorders and instability” caused his resignation.
He said Wednesday that security forces provided security for the October legislative elections with sacrifices, but the electoral commissions hurt people’s trust.
Meanwhile, reports say that Murad is to stand by former spymaster Rahmatullah Nabil as his running mate in the upcoming presidential elections, in which Nabil plans to run for the presidency. Murad has not commented on the reports.
The veteran army general has served in different positions both in former president Hamid Karzai and the incumbent Ashraf Ghani.
