AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: Police have arrested six suspects in murder case of the Ulema Council Chief for central Kapisa province, officials said on Sunday.
Provincial governor spokesman, Qais Qaderi told Pajhwok Afghan News police made the arrests on Saturday after the assassination of Maulvi Gul Ahmad Hanifyar.
He said three among the suspects have been taken into custody immediately after the incident and the rest in the afternoon, adding, the detainees are currently being under interrogation in a bid to reach the culprits.
Moreover, police spokesman Mohammad Ayub Yousafzai said three suspects have been detained by police in Kohistan-2 district.
He added two of the detainees are residents of Kohband and a third one belongs to Kohistan.
Yasin, a resident of Kohistan-1, said majority of the people have been using motorcycles and carrying illegal weapons. He called on police to put an end to weapons culture and save lives of innocent people.
