AT-KABUL: Salim Kunduz announced Sunday his resignation as governor of Nangarhar province, calling lack of cooperation as well as increasing interferences as the main causes of his resignation.
Kunduzi made the announcement in a gathering attended by several tribal elders and government officials.
He said the government failed to implement the commitments made with him and there was lack cooperation with him in to improve the situation of the province.
There was a close cooperation between the people and local governance, but added he would not be able to continue his career anymore, Kunduzi added.
His resignation needs to be approved by the president before officially quite his position.
Nangarhar is one of the key provinces located in eastern parts of the country which is the main transit route connecting Kabul with Pakistan it also faces security challenges with the rampant insurgency led by the Taliban and loyalists of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) terrorist group.
