AT-KABUL: Afghan intelligence operatives in a crackdown operation have gunned down Islamic State commander who masterminded recent terrorist attacks in eastern Nangarhar province.
A cache of weapons and ammunition belonging to Daesh terrorists was also destroyed during the crackdown.
“Daesh commander who was behind recent Nangarhar terrorist attacks was killed during a crackdown by intelligence forces in the zero point of Chaparhar district last night,” said Nangarhar gubernatorial spokesperson Attaullah Khogiani.
The slain Daesh commander was the brain behind deadly insurgent attacks on custom financial department, medical university, education directorate, cricket playground and Pashtonistan square, in which dozens of people were killed and wounded, he said.
The killed commander was behind many other terrorist attacks, which were foiled by Afghan security forces in Nangarhar province.
