KABUL: The ministry of agriculture and irrigation has estimated the products of watermelon to reach 79,000 tons this year in the eastern province of Nangarhar.
A spokesman for the ministry, Akbar Rustami said that Nangarhar last year produced 73,000 tons watermelon yields. According to him, over 1,995 hectares of land is provided for watermelon yields in Nangarhar.
Rustami said that watermelon harvest will have good market this year that would also bring a good income for the farmers. Afghanistan is one of the countries, whose citizens mainly rely on agriculture and farming. But due to lack of market, the farmers cannot make good income of their crops.
