AT-KABUL: Following criticisms about signing of an intelligence sharing deal between Kabul and Islamabad, the Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah on Monday said the National Unity Government (NUG) will not sign any agreement which is against the national interests of Afghanistan.
He told the session of Council of Ministers (CoM) that national interests of the country is his top priority and is of great importance for him. “No deal will be signed with any country which is in contravention with the national interests of Afghanistan,” he said. “A number of issues made people concerned in past week, including the memorandum of understanding with Pakistan’s spy agency. We will not sign any deal which will be against the national interests and national security of the country,” he reiterated.
He said the government is trying to strengthen its ties with all countries, and it tries to conduct its activities based on transparency and seriously.
Reports recently said that Afghanistan and Pakistan intelligence agencies signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for sharing information, training of Afghan spy service members and fight anti-state actors on both sides of the Durand Line.
Abdullah said people should trust their leaders as they will never compromise the national interests and security of the country.
