AT News Report-KABUL: NATO’s Senior Civilian Representative to Afghanistan, Ambassador Cornelius Zimmermann stressed on political settlement of Afghan conflict during a meeting held with Vice President Sarwar Danish.
During the meeting, the NATO envoy offered condolences to the vice president over the July 24 deadly terrorist attack in Kabul, a statement from Danish’s office said.
“The NATO envoy was saddened by the death of 28-year-old government employee Najiba Hussaini and other educated Afghans, who lost their precious lives in a terrorist attack last day in Kabul,” the statement said.
Moreover, he assured Vice President Danish that the NATO member countries would continue supporting the Afghan security forces in a bid to establish durable peace and stability in the country.
As a result of meeting, both sides agreed on the compelling circumstances for a negotiated political solution to the ongoing bloody conflict.
They also termed the peace agreement with the Hezb-e-Islami important.
The NATO ambassador assured Danish full support of the international community, and NATO in particular, for an Afghan-led and Afghan-owned peace and reconciliation process.
