AT-KABUL: The National Directorate of Security (NDS) has seized over 500kg explosive material in central Logar province, a statement of the spy agency said on Monday.
The statement said the NDS operatives have seized around 550kg of explosive material during a raid in Pashtoon Abad village of Baraki district. Two AK-47s, military equipment and other materials supposed to be used in terror attacks were also seized.
It is pertinent to mention that the NDS on Sunday arrested six fighters of the Qari Saleem group, a splinter group of the Taliban, in eastern Nangarhar province. The spy agency said that the detained militants were planning to launch coordinated attacks on security checkpoints. The notorious militants were identified as Fazal Karim alias Talha, Sanaullah, Amiruddin, Nabiullah, Estor and Abdul Basit. Seven rockets-propelled grenades (RPGs), six each AK47 and anti-vehicle mines, a satellite phone and hundreds of cartridges were recovered from the possession of the insurgents. The group was involved in several terrorist attacks.
