AT-KABUL: A high-ranking official of the Indian foreign ministry said here that New Delhi is committed to strengthen relations with Kabul further and play its role in improvement of the war-hit country’s economy.
Secretary in the external affairs ministry of India, Sujata Mehta, said that Afghan economy would get a boost if ties between the two countries scaled new heights.
Sujata Mehta said the other day that India was investing in Iran’s Chahbahar Port as an alternate transit trade route to Afghanistan and the Central Asian Republics.
Mehta said that India was working hard to connect Afghanistan with regional and world markets in order to strengthen economy of the war-hit country.
Mehta arrived at Kabul to attend the sixth Regional Economic Cooperation Conference on Afghanistan. Ministers from 30 different countries and representatives from 40 international organizations attended the two-day summit.
