AT-KABUL: Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah on Monday addressing the council of ministers said that the National Unity Government (NUG) had drawn up a new electoral reforms roadmap.
Reforms in electoral system of the country have been remained as big challenge for the NUG since its formation.
“The new roadmap is a combination of tow electoral laws which help to bring reforms in the system,” he said.
Both the election law and the law on the formation and authorities of election commission are included in the new draft. “The new draft of the laws is in its final phase.”
He also briefed the ministers about the preparations for the upcoming NATO summit in Brussels.
He said that strengthening of the rule of law, good governance, developing the culture of accountability, fight against corruption, women’s empowerment, generating jobs, mitigation of poverty and holding of transparent elections, where the promises made by the NUG government.
NATO and donor countries are scheduled to meet in Brussels, the capital of Belgium, to discuss future economic assistance to the war-torn country.
