AT-KABUL: Chief of International Relations Committee (IRC) of the Wolesi Jirga said the president Ashraf Ghani and the chief executive officer (CEO) Abdullah Abdullah promised to introduce new nominees in order to replace those picks who possess dual nationality.
Abdul Qader Zazai told reporters that the president would send list of new picks within next three days.
He said that the two leaders pledged to respect the law on dual citizenship. According to him there are eight ministerial nominees with dual citizenship while Noorul Haq Ulomi officially surrendered nationality of Netherland. Zazai said the Wolesi Jirga has received a letter from the embassy of Netherland in this regard.
Meanwhile, Salahuddin Rabbani and Sadat Naderi had said that they also renounced their second nationality. The United Kingdom’s embassy in Kabul has said that the renouncing of citizenship process is underway.
Replying to a query he said that Wolesi Jirga is not authorized to keep the passports of those who are renouncing second citizenship.
