KABUL: The ministry of transportation on Saturday drafted the contracts of six roads in the five provinces.
It said that efforts have been increased to construct more roads to meet people’s needs and problems.
The new roads would help increase in transit and commercial activities, according to officials in the ministry of transportation.
Yama Yari, minister of transportation said that the construction of the roads and bridges would link some districts and pave the ground for transiting the commercial merchandise.
“These roads include two bridges, the total length is 47km, the contracts worth one 1.7 billion AFS, and the expense would be paid by the World Bank and India,” he said.
The projects include 12 km road from Behsood bridge to AbdulKhalil village of Nangarhar, 16km from Balkh province to Marmal district, 9km from Maimana to Charagh village of Faryab, 9km from Qabriz ot Maimana, 9 km of Pol-e-Nachar of Badakhshan province, 16 km from Marmal to Tatangi of Balk province.
The ministry said that it would soon start work on the projects.
Meanwhile, Musa Khan Nasrat member of the parliament has said that most of the new roads have been built with the low quality.
“It is important to have good quality, because a lot of the roads have been destructed again and the people face lots of problems,” he said. “We don’t ask for a sooner construction but the quality of the road should be considered.”
Meanwhile, some of the drivers has also criticized on low quality of the roads and asked the in charges to pay attention on such issues.
