KABUL: National directorate of security on Wednesday said it has arrested nine Taliban insurgents in intelligence operations in Kabul City.
The insurgent Taliban members in detention are believed to have been involved in ‘subversive’ activities and responsible for many counts of bombings and ambushes on security forces, spying on government, said a statement carried by the national directorate of security.
The detained have been identified by the intelligence service as Tawos, Watandost, Gul Ahmad, Atiqullah, Mohammad Salim, Ehsanullah, Hazrat Khan, and Amruddin.
The intelligence service has ramped up its campaign of countering terrorist cells in Kabul with an aim to capture militants and thwart terrorist plots. The NDS operatives had arrested 19 terrorists loyal to the Islamic State in a covert operation before the day of Ashura.
