AT-KABUL: At least nine Taliban terrorists were killed during an operation conducted by security forces in the southeastern Paktika province, ministry of interior said in a statement Sunday.
The statement added that the operation was launched in Mangarti village of the Barmal district late Saturday.
“At least nine terrorists were killed,” the statement said.
It noted a suicide vest, three AK-47 rifles, two pistols, five radio handsets, an explosives-laden vehicle and some ammunition were seized in their sanctuaries.
The National Security Forces have had great achievements in attacking anti-government groups.
Separately, the Afghan National Border Police (ANBP) discovered and defused 19 roadside bombs in southern province of Kandahar.
A statement issued by ministry of interior said the bombs were paced by insurgents in Sra Sahan region of the Spin Boldak district.
“Discoveries like this demonstrate the ever-increasing capability of Afghan National Security Forces to protect the civilians from indiscriminate IED attacks,” the statement added, referring to the Improvised Explosive Device.
