AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: Senior leader of the Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) Senator Usman Khan Kakar said that Pakistan has not changed its policy towards Afghanistan and was still hell-bent on annexing the latter as its fifth province.
He said that Islamabad was pursuing the policy of “strategic depth” and wanted to occupy Afghanistan and make it a province.
Senator Usman Khan said that Pakistan’s foreign policy was still formulated by the military establishment and the civil government had no say in it.
The senator added that there was no issue between Afghan government and the Taliban but it was between Pakistan and Afghanistan. “Pakistan does not want to resolve the problem. Pakistan facilitated the talks between Afghan government and Taliban in Murree in order to ward off international pressure,” he said, adding that the first round of the peace talks was symbolic.
