AT-KABUL: Former President Hamid Karzai met with Alice Wells, US principal deputy assistant secretary for the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs, in his office on Sunday. The peace process, parliamentary election and the situation in the region were discussed.

Karzai told the visiting United States delegation that no deal on Durand Line is acceptable for the people of Afghanistan. This is while US deputy assistant secretary Wells had discussed Afghanistan with Afghan authorities and Pakistani civil and military leaders.

Wells called upon Karzai to take up a concrete role in Afghanistan’s current affairs and peace negotiations.

Meanwhile, former President Hamid Karzai met Uzbekistan Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulaziz Kamilov on Sunday in his office.

Both sides discussed strengthening and broadening of bilateral relations, the Afghan peace process and developing of regional cooperation.

Hamid Karzai said that Uzbekistan was a historical and sincere neighbor of Afghanistan and that both the countries boast friendly and inseparable relations. Karzai also called Kamilov his long-standing friend and appreciated his visit.

In the meantime, Karzai will pay a visit to China on Tuesday.
