KAB UL: Local officials in northern Balkh province said the Taliban militants have been wiped out from Balk and Dawlat Abad districts of the province after the Afghan security forces conducted comprehensive raids against the insurgent.
Provincial Police Chief, Gen. Mohammad Ajmal Faiz, said the security forces would launch clearing operation in Chamtal, Chaharbolak, Sholgera and Chaharkent districts of Balk as well.
“There were gossips that the schools had been blocked in Balk district, but we talked with teachers and students, there wasn’t such problem,” said Faiz.
Meanwhile, Balk residents said the security situations have become deterrent in the recent as according to them even the outskirt of the provincial capital, Mazar-e-Sharif become insecure for residents.
“Mazar-e-Sharif has been struggling with deferent type of threats since March,” said Shah Mahmood a resident.
Balkh provincial council member, Mohammad Afzal Hadid said that people are concern over the possible collapse of the city to the insurgents.
However, police chief, Faiz said the threats have been eliminated after the security forces conducted clearing operations in the city’s outskirt. “These are all gossips, no one can capture the city,” he said.
