KABUL: The government of Afghanistan says it would prioritize thee Internal Displaced Persons (IDPs) in contributing the donated money announced by the United States for Afghan refugees.
The ministry of refugees and repatriates, said Sunday that the internal displaced people need assistance more than any others because more people displace from their homes and villages every day.
The US President, Joe Biden, recently announced to allocate 100 million dollars to the emergency fund of Afghan displaced people.
Reza Baher, a spokesman of the ministry of refugees and repatriates, said Sunday that they haven’t yet received the money, adding that it would probably be spent by the government of Afghanistan or by the US relief organizations.
“We will use this donation to at least prevent a human tragedy inside Afghanistan,” Baher said.
Some 42,000 families (300,000 persons) have displaced since the beginning of the Persian year (March 21) around the country.
Taliban’s escalating war against government institutions since May forced more people to flee their homes as the insurgent group rapidly gains advance in almost all provinces.
The donation takes place while the United States grants tens of thousands of visas to Afghans who are feared to be threatened by Taliban including interpreters, human rights advocates and others who had helped the US troops and civilian workers in Afghanistan.
