AT-KABUL: A former adviser to the president Shahzada Masoud called convening of traditional Loya Jirga as the only way to solve current crisis in the country.
“The national unity government was engaged in small periphery aspects instead of addressing national issues, and failed to gain enough as people expected in the past one and half year,” Masoud told Afghanistan Times.
He said that insecurity and economic challenges were increasing day by day, thousands of youth left the country in the past one year due to lack of job opportunities.
Conflict is going on in a number of provinces and it is anticipated that insecurity will expand to some other provinces by the spring, he added.
Considering aforementioned challenges, the government will fail to run the constitution Loya Jirga, which was agreed after political agreement and as well as the parliamentary election will be impossible in the date the election commission had announced.
The only way to overcome all crises is running of traditional Loya Jirga as soon as possible and the government must respect people and traditional jirga decision, Masoud insisted.
He called on the government and all influential figures to support the traditional Loya Jirga to rescue the country.
If the government does not hold the traditional Loya Jirga, the country will face more problems, he noted.
He also called on the international community to support the Loya Jirga.
Pointing to the ongoing peace process, the former adviser of president said that the outcome of the process was not clear, so those Taliban who really want peace must join traditional jirga and present their legal demands through the Jirga to reach to a durable peace.
He said that war was imposed on Afghans by some foreign countries particularly neighboring and continuation of war in Afghanistan is at the benefit of neighboring countries.
We want relation with all countries including neighboring countries, but ask them to not interfere in our internal issues, he asserted.
He also praise will performance of security forces and urged all people to support security forces for further achievement in future.
