AT News Report-KABUL: Over 150 families have returned home from Pakistan through Torkham cross point in the past two days, officials said Tuesday.
Refugee returning stopped after tensions increased between Kabul and Islamabad and the Torkham cross point remained closed for more than a month, but on Monday, returning of refugees restarted.
“Over 150 families returned home from Pakistan through Torkham cross point in the past two days,” said Nangarhar governor Spokesman Attaullah Khogiani.
He said that over 100 families returned on Monday and over 40 families today.
He said that most of the returned families have been resided in Nangarhar and number of them to some other provinces.
Provincial authorities provide the returned families with transportation and relief item facilities, he added.
Ministry of Refuge and Repatriation Spokesman Islamuddin Jurrat said that as we registered over 60 families returned from Pakistan on Monday.
