Kabul: Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan, announced that his country will follow the international consensus on recognizing the Taliban government.
Pakistan’s foreign minister said at a press conference in Islamabad “As far as the recognition of the Taliban is concerned, Pakistan does not want to act alone and prefers to follow this process along with international consensus.”
Pakistan’s foreign minister asked the Taliban to fulfill their commitments to Afghans and the world to fight international terrorism and respect the human rights of all Afghans, including women’s access to education.
The head of Pakistan’s diplomatic system emphasized that following the new government came to power in Islamabad, it was decided to interact with the ruling delegation of Afghanistan, and of course, this does not mean recognizing the Taliban.
While many countries, including Pakistan, China and Russia have kept their diplomatic missions in Kabul open, no foreign government has yet formally recognized the Taliban government.
