AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: Islamabad has decided to begin registration of unregistered Afghan refugees next month.
The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) of Pakistan has been assigned to register all unregistered refugees within six months. The process is expected to start on July, 25.
The NADARA will set up 21 centers for registration of refugees out of which 11 centers are will be located in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. According to sources, the newly registered refugees will receive refugee cards in about a month and a half time after registration.
Pakistani authorities have warned to take legal action against those refugees who don’t register during this period.
According to reports, nearly 1,000,000 Afghan refugees don’t have refugee cards in Pakistan.
It is worth mentioning, Pakistani authorities in a meeting with the Minister of Refugees and Repatriation, Sayed Hussain Alemi Balki, and his accompanying delegation in May agreed on documentation of all unregistered refugees.
