AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: At least 15 Taliban militants have been killed, and several other received injuries in a clearing operation in Gomal district of southeastern Paktika province, officials said on Monday.
The commander of 6th Battalion of the Army Col. Mohammad Ayub, told Pajhwok Afghan News the Afghan security forces have launched a massive offensive in Gomal highways two days ago, in which 15 Taliban insurgents, including Pakistani rebels were killed, and dozens others received injures in the offensive.
According to him, the operation had been slowed down due to landmines planted on the path by the militants. He hoped that the Afghan security forces would enter the district by the end of the day (Monday), and clear the area from militants. The Commander of Border Forces, Raz Mohammad, said that security forces and civilians had received no casualties so far.
However, he added that the security forces have been proved bitter taste for the insurgents, and recaptured more areas from them. However, the Taliban have not commented into the incident yet.
